Tenant Advocacy Group
Homeless and formerly homeless people in the Tenant Advocacy Group work together on educational and legislative activities related to homelessness and affordable housing. The group is organized by a graduate of our Shelter and Housing Stabilization programs.A TAG Story
Ms. Ida is Vice President of IHN's Tenant Advocacy Group (TAG), and has been active in the group since its inception in 2002. She and her son experienced homelessness six years ago, but they now have stable housing and are pursuing their goals. Her son is on track to graduate from high school next year and Ms. Ida has become a very involved community member.Ms. Ida's advocacy efforts in 2005 included attending Madison City Council meetings to oppose Madison Metro bus cuts and writing to Rep. Tammy Baldwin to oppose federal budget cuts which would affect low-income people. In addition to her responsibilities with TAG, she is also a member of NAACP, is an advocate for youth in the criminal justice system, and has attended the Grassroots Leadership College to learn additional community organizing skills.

We are excited to announce that The Road Home is working on an initiative to create 30 units of decent, safe, affordable housing for our families. The Housing and Hope campaign is an innovative strategy that pairs affordable apartments with long-term support services for homeless families. We have the vision, we have the strategy, we have the support of a wide network of volunteers and now we are poised to raise $4,000,000 to make this dream a reality.
